My dear Fitz:
We are here in the center of the country.
Resistance which was once contemplated very seriously has yielded to submission & flight. A people by situation capable of every happiness have been duped by awful leaders to sacrifice it & now depend on the mercy of the very govt. they have villified & abused. I enclose my address on which will be founded future measures.
God bless you. adieu.
Henry Lee
The army behaved really well.
