dear Sir,
I am not able to make a suitable apology, for the liberty I take of mentioning to you, that I have heard it suggested you have several good hounds to give away, & of asking you to give me 3 or 4 of them. The wolves & foxes prey so audaciously and in such numbers around us that without the active assistance of dogs we shall have none but the larger quadrapeds left on our farms.
Will you be so good as to let me hear from you by return of Post, and believe me to be with sincere esteem for yrself& the family at sabine hall your humble & faithful servant.
H. Lee
