The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our curator, Colin Woodward, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

Dear Sir

If you have seen Mr Botts and conversed with him concerning your suit against Wright he may have informed you of the doubt & difficulty of shewing the chain of title whereby the land contained in Jenings patent became vested in Corbin who obtained a surplus patent for the same land. Your adversary claims under Darnel’s patent which is younger than Jenings but older than Corbin’s. The dispute about boundary is I think in your favor. I am to regret you will attend with all your land papers which concern the title of Corbin unto the land granted to Jenings. Perhaps some of them may be found useful if they are examined. It is my intention to be at Haymarket on the 19th at night. I am Dr sir respectfully

your most obed. Srnt,

Charles Lee

To Gawen C. Turberville
