The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our curator, Colin Woodward, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

My Dear Colonel,

Genl Lee has just returned me your telegram of the other day which I had committed to him for his recommendation, with the above endorsement. I send it because I know it will be a gratification to you. I hope you will get the appt. Sue is, I learn, with you. My best love to her. I hope her mother will be in Staunton next Tuesday night on her way to Richmond next day, to see me for a little while. The divine blessing rest on you both.

affly. W. N. Pendleton
