The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our curator, Colin Woodward, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

Edmund J. Lee, Esq.

            1213 Walnut St., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dear Emund:-

I received your favor of May 24th and since then your circular. I thank you heartily for all you have done in the matter. My debility from the wear of the war and age made me at fault in not improving the kind opportunities you gave me. Inclosed is my check for two copies of “The History of the Lee Family of Virginia.”

1642-1892.

We will always be happy to see you and your family when you come this way.

Affectionately yours

Samuel Phillips Lee
