The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our curator, Colin Woodward, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

Leesburg Va July 18, 1895

My dear Ned,

I hav been absent from Leesburg since June 3. until day before yesterday. On yesterday the express agent sent me your Genalogical book. I thank-you very much for it & shall appreciate it highly.

I hav not had time to examine the book, but will do so on my return to Clarke. From the very slight dip I have made into your book, it strikes me, that you have done your work well. You have rescued from oblivion interesting facts & letters, which will interest & instruct, not only the “Lee Tribe,” but the general reader.

You hav I doubt not gotten up a valuable book of its kind, & I trust you may derive profit from its publication.

Very affectionately,

Your uncle

R. H. Lee
