Mississippi City, P. O.
25th March 1877
My dear Col. Taylor,
I have the pleasure to acknowledge your kind letter of the 19th Inst.
To your better knowledge I submit the question of the shipment of the oysters, but recognizing the difficulties which you mention, think it might be better perhaps to send the covered instead of fresh oysters. Thus will be avoided both the danger of their being spoiled and the necessity for a separate shipment of the two articles. With best wishes for you and yours I am cordially
your friend
Jefferson Davis
