The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our curator, Colin Woodward, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

Mississippi City P.O.

Harrison County, Missi.

3rd March 1877

Col. Walter Taylor,

My dear Sir,

My sister in law, who you may recollect as Miss Margaret Howell, is desirous to have some of the remembered Norfolk oysters and Smithfield bacon hams, will you get a barrel of each and ship them to her Husband, Chev[alier]. C. de W. Stoess,1 German Vice Counsel, 11 Dale Street Liverpool, England.

As I have no idea of the cost, I must ask you to send the bill to me and I will remit to you a check for the amount.

With kindest remembrance and best wishes

I am ever truly your friend

Jefferson Davis
