The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our curator, Colin Woodward, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

My Dear Colonel Taylor

Let me ask if in making up your estimate of General Lees numbers at Gettysburg you did not include Jenkins brigade as well as Corsi’s both of which were left in Virginia, and were parts of General Picketts division. My volume of your book was burnt when my residence, was burnt, and I dont find one here with friends or in the stores. Have you one that you can lend until I can get through with my work, and if you have a war time photograph of yourself I would like it with your official signature on the face of it

Yours Truly

J Longstreet
