The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our curator, Colin Woodward, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

I send up this letter, which was recd last night, My dear Markie, to take the chance of finding you at the Isd. We can hear nothing of you & your note from the Isd only reached me the night previous to the day designated for your departure for Buffalo. I could not leave home that day, else we should have gone up to see if you had in reality departed. Since then I have wearied the World to gain intelligence of you, but without effect. Miss Mason left us yesterday. Your Cousin M. [Mary] has not been very well this week & is still suffering from the effects of cold.

Present us very kindly to Miss Nora [Bankhead] & all with you. Mary Sends much love &

I remain very truly your loving cousin
