The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our curator, Colin Woodward, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

Camp 26 Nov ’63

I take advantage of the Kindness of Genl Hoke to say to you, how I long to see you, how often I think of you & how ardently I pray to Almighty God to bless & protect you.

I recd. when in the Valley a present from one of your former schoolmates, who lived in Smithfield, but whose name at this time I Cannot recall, which I have kept for you, but have never before had an opportunity to send. It will be valuable at least for the pins, but I fear it has been marred in its Campaign to Penna. & elsewhere.

I trust I may See you this winter
