Near Richmond
10 June ’62
My dear Mary
I have heard with great delight of your arrival in Richmond. I am strongly tempted to go in to see you. My Constant duties here alone prevent, & preparations for the anticipated movement of troops will detain me. I will Go up to see you as soon as I Can. Where do you intend to locate yourself? Let me know. I hope your arrival will restore my dear Custis, about whom I have been very uneasy. Give much love to Annie & Life & tell them I want to see them badly.
Very truly & affecty
R E Lee
