Lexington Va; 13 May ’66
My dear Sir
The portraits which you so kindly renovated for me, reached me safely last evg. and so well has your work been done, that I can scarcely distinguish a trace of the injury which befell them.
The pictures of Genl & Mrs. Washington, are the last that were ever were taken of them, and besides their intrinsic value, are associated with my most pleasing recollections of byegone days
Please accept my sincere thanks for your kindness, and my earnest wishes for your welfare
With great respect
your obt sevt,
R E Lee
Mr. Guillaume
