The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our curator, Colin Woodward, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

My dear sir

I am trying to collect my family pictures which have been lying in a cellar for nearly 10 years & am very anxious that you should go down to Alex & see them for me & make such repairs as you shall judge necessary. Some of them I am told are much in need of attention & I rely upon you to bestow it upon them. Mr. Green of Alexa at the “Steam furnishing Ware Rooms,” of Green & Brother. I do not recollect the Street or number but it will be easily found.  He will show you the pictures & deliver any of them you designate at your rooms in Washington where you can keep them as long as you desire. you must give them your address & you must allow me to recompense you for all your trouble or I will not give them to you.

Respectfully,

M C Lee
