Robert E. Lee to James Longstreet, 1862 November 19

A dispatch received from Gen Stuart this morning dated Warrenton 6 ½ P.M. yesterday states that the loss of the enemy’s infantry and artillery passed through that place at 2 P.M. The last of the cavalry from Waterloo passed through at 3 P.M. Sumner’s corps was seen marching from Catlett’s Station towards Fredericksburg on Sunday. Gen Stuart considers from the information he has obtained, that Burnside’s Army has marched for Fredericksburg. He will move down this morning towards the Rail Road and communicate with me by Brandy Station. I think you had better move this morning the two divisions we spoke of yesterday, on the route to Fredericksburg, leaving the other stationary, but prepared to move until I hear from Stuart. I enclose two telegraphs received last night. Please call by and see me on your route.
