The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our curator, Colin Woodward, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

Headquarters Army No. Va

Petersburg Va 28 July 1864

General:

It has been a source of much regret to me that your Brigade has been deprived of your valuable services by the wound which you received in action. I should be glad to hear from you, how you are progressing in your convalescence, and hope that you may soon be restored to your usual vigor, and be enabled to return to your command where you have rendered and may still render, such valuable assistance to our cause.

very respectfully

Your obdt servt
