The bag of Socks and Stores sent this morning have been recd. and the count of Mrs Lee found to be right.

The box Spoken of as having been shipped by Maj Ferguson have been recd. It contained 320 pairs of which 50 have been issued to soldiers of different command who were entirely without. The remainder together with the lot recd this morning shall to distributed [sic] as you desire.

I will give them to distribute soldiers cut off from home and report the issues to you.

I beg leave to state that I have issued a good supply of cotton socks and are issuing more today, but they are unfortunately rather inferior in quality
