The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our curator, Colin Woodward, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

My dear Mary

I take advantage of Col: Taylors visit to Richmond to send you a few lines. I hope your Suffering is ameliorated. This rainy day makes me feel for you. I wrote to Agnes this morg & have but little more to say. I am just about to go to church & have to close. I send a check for $1000 which I hope will be useful. Tell me if you are out of funds & if the pew rent, house rent &c &c are all paid

God bless & relieve you

Very affy

R E Lee

P.S. your letter of 17th with ruffins note & the bundle just brought in. I have not time to read the note or open the bundle
