The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our curator, Colin Woodward, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

Petersburg 19 June ’64

I have recd dear Mary your little missives & the bread for which take many thanks. I asked Custis yesterday to write to you & say I had not time. I am much obliged to the kind people for the clothes, but if they are not gray as I understand from Major Ferguson’s note, they are of no use to me in the field. You will therefore have to keep them. I hope to go to church this blessed day & shall remember you all in my poor prayers. Never forget me or our suffering country. I saw F & Rob yesterday. All well. Give much love to my daughters & my little sweetheart. God bless you all.

Truly & affy

R E Lee
