The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our editor, Colin Woodward, at  (804) 493-1940, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

My dear Mary

I recd yesterday your note enclosing one from Miss Kitty Stiles. I thought I had acknowledged the safe arrival of the cherries as well as the pickles. The cherries are very nice indeed & I enjoy them greatly. I hope they were all stored by Margaret & Carrie. I gave some to Mrs Turnbull who is on a visit to her husband, & shall have to give some to the dear Major. You had better give the socks sent by kind Miss Kitty to some one in want & do tell her that I recd the box with the jackets preserves  &c all of which were very nice. I acknowledged their arrival immediately & hope my letter reached her. I return her note that you may see her direction & also send a photograph of her old Cousin to Margaret who said she had none, though I know she would rather have the Majors. Give much love to every body.

Always yours

R E Lee
