Near Cartersville 8 Sept ‘65
My dear Miss Nannie
It has given me great pleasure to comply with the request contained in your note of the 2nd Inst.
I regret very much not having seen you before leaving Richmond, but I know it is owing to Genl Fitz Lee, who wishes no one to look at you but himself.
My daughter Agnes has recovered from her attack of fever & she & Mildred send their kind regards.
Wishing you every happiness I am most truly yours
R E Lee
