The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our editor, Colin Woodward, at  (804) 493-1940, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

Dr. Edward Warren

46 Franklin St., Baltimore, Md.

My Dear Sir:

I regret to learn from your letter of the 8th inst. the embarrassments under which you labor. My personal knowledge of you is very general, and though I have never heard any censure cast upon you, officially or otherwise, I have no information on the particular subject to which you refer. I think however you can get positive testimony from the gentlemen whom you name, and I would recommend you to write to Govr. Vance, Dr Guild &c, whose statements will carry conviction to every one.

Wishing you all happiness,

I am very respectfully, yr. obdt. Svt.

(sgd.) R. E. Lee
