The Lee Family Digital Archive is the largest online source for primary source materials concerning the Lee family of Virginia. It contains published and unpublished items, some well known to historians, others that are rare or have never before been put online. We are always looking for new letters, diaries, and books to add to our website. Do you have a rare item that you would like to donate or share with us? If so, please contact our editor, Colin Woodward, at  (804) 493-1940, about how you can contribute to this historic project.

Lexington Va: 6 June 1868

My dear Sir

I enclose powers of attorney for myself & daughter Mildred to sell the Virginia stocks standing in our names. My daughter Agnes is absent & has I am told her certificate of stock with her. I have sent her a power of attorney to execute & send to you with the certificates, but I fear they will reach you too late. You must do upon their arrival what you consider best. I enclose with the certificates of registered stock, the bonds issued for back interest. I suppose those in the name of my daughter Anne C. Lee, if not sold will have to be transferred to mine. Those in Mildred’s name if you do not think advisable to sell, retain.

After selling the bonds invest the amount to the credit of my daughter Mildred as you & Mr Jas: K. Caskie1 may think best. I also request that you let me know the amount to my credit after selling the stock.

Very truly your obliged friend

R E Lee

Mr. R. H. Maury
