Chantilly [c.8 December 1768]
Dear Sir,
Ever since I left Mr. Parker I have been in the most unhappy condition Poor – Mrs. Lee and my two sons laboring under a severe Pleurisy and now so ill that I know not what may be the issue of this night – Worn out as I am with fatigue and anxiety I must attend the election tomorrow but I am not able to inform you any thing about the opposition –
The boy brings a bottle of the best Madeira I have, and I wish it may be of service to you – I am with infinite regard dear Sir
your affectionate friend.R. H. Lee
