<br /> Lee Letter: g0443

Washington and Lee University

Sender: Robert E. Lee
Recipient: Jefferson Davis

To His Excellency Jeff Davis.

If any troops can be sent by rail to Gordonsville under a good officer I recommend it Longstreet’s Division if available had better come to me and the troops for Gordonsville and protection of Rail Road from Richmond and North Carolina if practicable. Genl Howard has six (6) batteries with him. Please order the forwarding of our supplies.
