To the Comptroller of the Treasury

The Committee appointed to settle the Accounts of Mr Silas
Deane,1 find it necessary to have an Account
of the Sums chargd in the Banker Mr Grand’s Accts as paid to him. You
will therefore transmit the same to me as soon as may be. The Sum total
will be sufficient. If you know of any other documents which may throw
light on those Accounts, you will be so good as transmit them. If there
are any Accts. in the treasury, of the Banker Solier, or of Thos.
Morris, formerly commercial Agent, or of Penet & Gruel respecting
Monies furnishd to the Commissioners Franklin, Deane & Lee, or any
of them, on behalf of the U.S. I must request a Copy of them for the
Committee.
