I have recd your letter of the previous month transmitting your draft on New York for $367.50 for the benefit of the “asylum for the orphans of the Confederate dead.” I will forward it in accordance with your request to the Treasurer of the Society. The generous gift of the citizens of Virginia City, will give to the suffering children of the State which bears its name, the Comforting assurance that the Sympathy of the truly Charitable overcomes all distance & is Confined within no limits.
