Abstract: Written in Lexington to Captain J. W. Sharp, Assistant Superintendent, F.B. In reply to an incident of 22 March 1867 occurring at the Freedman’s School involving four Washington College students who were tried by the Mayor on the charge of having produced the disturbance. Summoned before the Faculty, they appeared and were accompanied by Mr. J. A. McNeill, a student at the College, who assumed blame for the incident. Upon verification of McNeill’s statement, he was dismissed from the College and left Lexington. The other four were reprimanded.
