Washington and Lee University

Sender: Robert E. Lee
Recipient: Mrs. E. E. Stanley

Abstract: Written in Lexington to Mrs. E. E. Stanley stating that he does not think it will be advantageous for her son to return to the College and that he should continue in the business in which he is engaged. Cites absences in class perhaps due to ill health. Unless such can be overcome he could do no good at the College. A polite yet firm letter closed by stating he has no recollection of Miss Alice Payne.
