<br /> Lee Letter: w374

Washington and Lee University

Sender: Robert E. Lee
Recipient: Joseph G. Steele

Dear Sir:

It is my duty to inform you that your ward, J. W. Poague has been irregular in his attendance upon College classes, and is so negligent of his studies, that the Faculty are of the opinion that his return to College would not be advantageous. His Monthly Reports have made you reaquainted with the particulars on which this action is based. Without regularity and diligence on his part, his further stay at College would be more injurious than profitable to him.

Very Respectfully,

R E Lee
