4. Oct. 1852.

Sir.

I have had the honor to receive your letter of the 28th ulto: in reference to a Report of the Academic Board of the 13th Sept, explanatory of a former communication submitted by them on the same subject. In forwarding said Report, I did so as Pres. of the Board; I affixed my name signature in conjunction with the Secretary, to authenticate the paper adopted by the Board presenting the result of proceedings. Commenced prior to my becoming a member, & in which I considered I was not individually concerned.

It was not for the purpose of doing myself “justice” or of offering “my views” & entirely opposed to being officious or disrespectful.

I am very respy. your obedt Servt.(Signed) R E. Lee Bvt: Col.
Supt. Mil: Acady.
