Gentlemen—

In reply to your note of yesterday’s date I have the honour to refer you to the printed Regulations for the government of the Military Academy, of which copies have been furnished to the members of the Board of Visitors. These regulations set for the mode of the administration of the Academy, and constitute the standard to which it is the aim of the authorities to make it conform.

Should there be anything not contained in the Regulations, or any point on which you wish more particular information—I shall be happy to furnish it & do all in my power to aid you in your examination.
