Chantilly [c.8 December 1768]Dear Sir,
Ever since I left Mr. Parker I have been in the most unhappy condition Poor - Mrs. Lee and my two sons laboring under a severe Pleurisy and now so ill that I know not what may be the issue of this night - Worn out as I am with fatigue and anxiety I must attend the election tomorrow but I am not able to inform you any thing about the opposition -
The boy brings a bottle of the best Madeira I have, and I wish it may be of service to you - I am with infinite regard dear Sir
your affectionate friend.
