My dear Sir1

It gives me pleasure to endorse the statements of Genl Long in favour of young kinsmen. They deserve the approbation of those with whom they have served, & I wish them every success in the world.

My advise [sic] to all our young men is, to adhere to their states & friends, & aid both in the restoration of the country.

most truly yours

R E Lee
